Cut Leaved Toothwort Cut Leaved Toothwort
Dentaria laciniata
Family - Brassicaceae
- Mustard

The cut leaved toothwort is a spring wildflower of the woodland. It blooms in early to mid April here in southern Indiana. The common name refers to projections which resemble teeth found on its underground stems.

The pure white flowers of the toothwort are usually found in company with Spring Beauties, Trout Lilies, and Wood Anemones. A rushing stream or damp lowland area of the woodland is where these spring wildflowers are most at home.
The seeds of the toothwort appear shortly after bloom has finished and resemble miniature "peas in a pod". These open, scattering the seeds over the woodland floor thus ensuring another spring crop of this beautiful spring wildflower.
