The mounds are the best ones found in Indiana. The mounds were constructed for ceremonial and burial purposes. Mounds State Park is located just east of Anderson, Indiana. It has 10 earthworks constructed by the Adena-Hopewell Indians, a group of pre-historic Indians. The "Great Mound" is the largest and archeologists believe it was constructed around 160 BC. Text |
