The Museum
The Indiana State Museum is constructed from Indiana limestone and feature sculptures from all 92 counties on the exterior. It is located within the Whitewater State Park and is near the Indianapolis Zoo. The Imax Theater is located in the Museum complex, also.

The story of Indiana is told from pre-historic times to the present day with exhibits on each of its three levels. Changing exhibits chronicle different aspects of Indiana history in unique and informative ways.

Several unique features of the Museum include the Steam Clock, located outside by the Canal. The eight brass whistles of the clock chime several notes of "Back Home Again In Indiana" every fifteen minutes. The Foucault Pendulum is an impressive demonstration of a pendulum showing the rotation of the earth.

There are several changing exhibits which are featured for specified times during the year. These are temporary, one time exhibits of science, art, and history from Indiana and around the world.

The Indiana State Museum has existed for 150 years and has acquired a huge collection of artifacts, only 2% - 3% of which are on display at any one time. Artifacts from the Core Galleries are rotated in and out four times each year.
