The
Indianapolis Museum of Art was established in 1883 and has accrued a
collection of over 50,000 works of art. Enter through the Efroymson Entrance
Pavilion to gain access to the various collections and exhibitions maintained
by the Museum. The Oldfields-Lily House and Gardens consists of the 26 acre estate of former Indianapolis businessman and philanthropist J.K. Lily Jr. The 22 room mansion is the main attraction, but the magnificently landscaped gardens can also be visited and enjoyed. The 100 acre Virginia Fairbanks Art and Nature Park is next door to the Museum/Lily House complex and is as yet closed. It is scheduled to open in 2009. It will offer art and nature experiences in unexpected ways. There are five gift shops located at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. The IMA Store has jewelry, pottery, glass, gifts, and reproductions of many of its works of art. The Gallery Shop’s merchandise encompasses art related merchandise, usually associated with some of its current exhibits but not limited to it. Its wares include pottery, jewelry, and collectors items. The Greenhouse Shop has unusual perennials and houseplants as well as gardening tools and accessories. The Lily Shop is located at the entrance of the Oldfield-Lily house and has stationary, books, and gifts. The Better Than New Shop features items donated by members and includes furniture, collectables, china, jewelry, crystal, and much more. There are also two restaurants on the grounds. Puck’s, and the IMA Café. Pucks offers fine dining, exceptional service and innovative cuisine. The IMA Café presents express dining service featuring sandwiches, salads, desserts and beverages.
