You can also use a solar garden fountain pump to custom make your own fountain from materials you have, or replace a fountain pump in an existing fountain. Remember that the solar cell must be in full sunlight for the pump to function. One feature to look for in a solar garden pump is a low voltage A/C adapter. Some pumps include them, which greatly increases the versitality of these pumps.

Some terms you will see while shopping for a pump are waterhead and GPH. Waterhead refers to the vertical distance a pump will lift the water. Most small pumps will lift the water from twenty-four to thirty-six inches. GPH stands for gallons per hour and informs you how much water the pump will move. Most of these small pumps will move thirty to seventy-five gallons of water per hour.
