Solar Powered Garden Fountains - Pool © 2008
Solar pool gardens feature a pool of water contained in a large tub-like reservior constructed from
resin, concrete, tile or other material. The water is recirculated using a spray or cascade effect.
If you live in a climate in which the temperature dips below freezing during the winter, these
fountains will need some special winter attention. If the fountain is too heavy to empty and move
inside, then it must be emptied completely of water and all the components removed which can be.
Then plastic needs to be draped over the fountain and tied securely to keep out all the water and
snow. Check periodically over the winter to make sure no water enters. If water is allowed to
accumulate, it will freeze and possibly crack the basin or any components left inside.
