If the sound of trickling water in your garden or patio is something you long for, but don't want to have to run wiring for a fountain, then a solar garden fountain may be just what you need. These fountains are quite versatile, allowing you to put a fountain in remote locations in the garden without the need to run wiring to the location. Some of these fountains may have cords which attach to the solar cell, which allows you to place the fountain in a shady area, and place the solar panel in the sun.

A solar garden fountain does have limitations. It, or the solar panel which powers it, must be placed in full sun. These fountains, since they rely on a low voltage motor and solar panel, tend to be small, so don't expect to have a torrent of water. They may not run on cloudy days, as there may not be enough light available then.
