About Us
Hand held gas leaf blowers include blowers, blower/vacuums, and backpack blowers. Advantages of a gas blower are that you do not need to drag an extension cord around, so they can be used in remote locations far from electric outlets. Unlike the electric blower, they can be used to blow light, fluffy snow off sidewalks. This could cause electrocution if you try this with an electric blower, so if you plan to use the leaf blower for snow removal, get a gas one. The biggest disadvantages of the gas blower are that they can be hard to start and they are heavier than the electrics. The also are not as powerful as the electric blowers. You must also keep an oil/gas mixture on hand, as these almost all have two cycle engines that cannot burn straight gasoline. Some of the larger gas powered leaf blowers do have an electric starter.

Backpack gas powered leaf blowers have more power than even the hand held ones, but are quite heavy and can cause strain on back muscles unused to the weight of carrying one around.

If your yard is in a suburban area with close neighbors, you must also consider the noise output. The noise rating will be displayed on the box. Decibel ratings are measured from fifty feet away when the units are tested. Hand held electric units tend to be quieter than gas powered blowers. The user is more affected by the noise of a leaf blower then someone a distance away, so ear protection should be used at all times with any of them.
