Nothing helps with lawn clean up more than a chipper - shredder. Using one of these machines, leaves, branches and other lawn debris can be cleaned up quickly and reduced in size to use for either mulch or compost materials. Gas powered chipper - shredders offer power and portability to this job. You will find four basic types of gas powered shredders on the market.
Hand held gas powered vacuum leaf shredder - blowers are the most portable. You can carry these things around the yard blowing and picking up leaves everywhere.
Walk behind gas powered vacuum leaf shredders are like big vacuum cleaners for your lawn. You push them around the lawn and it will pick up leaves, small sticks and other lawn debris. These things will shred the stuff up and deposit the stuff in a bag for easy disposal. Some of these units also have an extension hose to use to pick up debris, and also have a chipper chute to handle small limbs.
Stationary gas powered chipper shredders are meant to stay on one place while you feed debris into them. Some of these have three ways to feed debris into the unit for shredding. They have a large chute for feeding in leaves, garden waste and small shrubby material. A chipper chute allows you to feed in small limbs for chipping. A drop down chute allows you to rake material into the unit at ground level.
Tow behind gas powered chipper - shredders are designed to pull behind a lawn mower or small tractor. These are usually heavier duty machines for larger yards or commercial use.
